My Story
Hello!
I am so happy you are here.
My name is Laura and I have been the proud of owner of Portrait Arts Photography since July 2008. and now I Pictured This (2024). I thought I would share several skills I have picked up and become pretty good at over the years. These pertain to weddings and portraits, too!
Providing Direction and Guidance: Directing the clients and their families during posed shots, providing guidance on posing and positioning to create beautiful and flattering images.
Timing and Schedule Management: Keeping track of the timeline to ensure that all key moments are captured. Coordinating with the subjects, any vendors, to ensure smooth photo sessions and timely transitions.
Handling Unexpected Situations: Remaining calm and adaptable when things don't go as planned, such as equipment malfunctions, last-minute changes, or unforeseen obstacles, such as the weather. Creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for the couple, family, or individual, helping them feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera.
Post-Production Challenges: Editing and retouching photos to enhance their quality, ensuring consistent style and aesthetic with their entire order, prints, albums, products.
Communication and Client Expectations: Effectively communicating with the clients to understand their vision, preferences, and any specific shots they want, while also managing their expectations regarding timelines and deliverables
Part of my WHY
Grandma's Dilemma
When Grandpa passed away many years ago, Grandma searched for a photo of just him to share with all of us. The only one that she found, was one that he was a part of a big group. After it was cropped and enlarged to show just him, it looked horrible at best. After that, Grandma made sure to have professional photos taken of herself every few years so that when it was time for her to be with Grandpa, we would have photos of her so we could remember her!
This has stuck with me for many years. This reminds me how important photos are to us. More specifically printed photos.
We are on a mission to bring back the printed portrait. We have a moral obligation to photograph our clients and make sure they document their important moments and favorite people in their lives. Weddings, yearly family portraits, baby's first year. We help them celebrate their families and special occasions by creating wall art for their homes and keepsake albums to share.
